Random Dozen

It's Wednesday so time for another Random Dozen.  Ya'll know the drill by now.  Click on over to Linda's copy and answer the questions.  Then link to the rest of us that are wanting to learn more about fellow bloggers.

1. Do you do garage sales? If so, tell me about one great find. If not, tell me why not.
Yes most definetly.  We found a Coleman Lantern once, bought it for $7.00 and sold it on Ebay for over $900.00.  Need a couple more of those kind of finds.

2. Name the last thing you fixed.
As in repaired something.  I wouldn't have a clue.  As in cooked it would be dinner last night.

3. Name your A) Favorite item of makeup OR B) Favorite tool
I don't really wear make-up, if I do, it's just mascara and maybe lipstick.

4. Which room in your home needs organizing more than any other?
Kitchen  I don't have enough cabinets.   Enough said stuff is thrown in them every which a way and I just have to walk away from them.

5. Which room could use re-decorating?
Well the hall bathroom still isn't finished so I guess that would be considered re-decorating.

6. Share something unique about your town.

I glanced at some others answers, trying to decide what would be considered unique.  We have a peanut festival every August.  Only picture I could find online and I don't think it's a recent one.  Even though it's an annual event.

7. If you could send a one-sentence message to your great-grandchild, what would it be?
Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind.

8. Do you Facebook?
Yes I do.

9. Describe your favorite shoes.
flip-flops, need I say more. 

10. Do you listen to more talk radio or more music radio? What kind of station is it?
music radio, contemporary christian.

11. How far would you travel for a really good (favorite) meal?
About an hour or so near Darien there is a seafood buffet call Pelican's Point.  Haven't been there in a few years but it's really good.  There's also one near Brunswick called The King and Prince.  Both have every seafood you would want.
12. If you were totally honest with yourself (and us) what should you probably be doing right now instead of blogging.
Cleaning house.

Flashback Friday

It's been several weeks since I joined in on Flashback Friday but this week was one I could really relate to. 



Tell about TV when you were growing up.  Did your family have a TV?   Was it color or black&white?    How many TVs did your family have?   Did you have one in your room?   Did your family leave the TV on most of the day or turn it on for specific programs?  Was the TV on or off when you ate meals as a family?  Were there rules about watching TV?   What were your favorite shows?   Are there any particular memories you have of TV in your younger years?



The first TV I can remember was in the living room of our house and was a console black and white.  It was there as far back as I can remember so I'm not sure what year we may have gotten our first one.  That was the only tv in the house for several years.   Until I got one in my bedroom when I was 15 I think.  The best I can remember.  By then there was only my brother and I at home and I can't remember if he had one in his room or not.
I'm not sure if my Mom watched it during the day while we were all at school during the week.  On the weekends and during the summer we were outside most of the day.  I do remember waking up on Saturdays and watching cartoons until we saw other kids outside.  You know that was back in the days that you played outside until  the street lights came on.   I also remember watching Romper Room, Captain Kangaroo, and Mr. Rogers, but I think they were on during the week in the mornings.
Not really rules but Dad controlled the TV if he was home.  He worked shift work, so one week every month he was at work in the evenings.   When he was home I can remember watching Red Skelton, Hee Haw, Petticoat Junction, and always the news.  The local weather had Captain Sandy, he would stick his hand in a clam shell and pull out a card with the weather on it.  My how technology has changed since then.  Later on was The Waltons, Allin the Family, The Jeffersons, and Bewitched.  I'm sure there's many more.
Once I had a TV in my bedroom, must see couldn't miss was One Day at a Time.
 

 The Cosby Show, and Happy days were also some of my favorites.

Random Dozen

It's Wednesday as some refers to as Hump Day.  But for alot of us it's time for Random Dozen.  So click on over to Linda's and join the rest of us. 

1. Describe the best sandwich in the world, according to you.

Not much of a sandwich girl.  But if given the chance, Cheddar's makes an awesome philly cheese sandwich.   If I'm at home just plain old bologna, or peanut butter.

2. Which inspires you more: a good conversation, a song, a book or movie?
A good conversation

3. What is your favorite board game?

Scrabble, but if the kids have their choice it's always Monopoly we end up playing.

 4. As you grow older, are you more or less patient with small children?

Well considering my grandaughter is 18 months old, I would have to say more patience.  I'm sure her Mom would say she gets by with more than she ever did.

5. Name one item you never let yourself run out of.

6. Do you agree with Tennyson's assertion, "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?"

Yes.

7. Name one national treasure or monument that you have visited.

The Washington Monument in the late 70's with my parents on our trip to Washington DC.

8. Which is more painful, to be disappointed in someone else or to be disappointed in yourself?

In someone else.

9. What makes your kitchen uniquely yours?
My spices and canned good have to be in alphabetical order.  Mild case of OCD I guess.

10. Are you a crafty person?
Somewhat I guess.  I love to do crafts with the kids, and crochet.  But have never learned to sew, don't have the patience.

11. What is your favorite traditional picnic or bbq (cookout) food?
steak, nothing like a good steak on the grill

12. Name one leisurely activity you enjoyed over Labor Day Weekend.
Saturday night my husband and I had the house to ourself and watched a movie with no interruptions.

God the Healer

I can't believe I missed Random Dozen yesterday.  I had the pleasure of spending the last two days with Emily (my grandaughter).  She's eighteen months old today so you know she kept me on my toes. 
Also Scott works out of town alot during the week so some nights I don't sleep very well, and last night was one of them.  But he is on his way home and was able to come to stop by and see Chris today.  So I have written an update on my blog  Prayers and Praises.  We serve such an awesome God that still answers prayers.

We're spending the day in Macon at the hospital so I hope to have some positive news when we get back.
