Random Dozen

It's Wednesday again so time for another Random Dozen.  If you haven't joined in yet you are truly missing meeting other great bloggers that will make you laugh, cry, and encourage you all in the same day.  So hop on over to Linda's  for the questions and link them at the bottom of her post.

1. Have you ever fired a gun or shot a bow and arrow?  Not that I can recall.  Growing up with 4 brothers I can remember my Dad taking them to learn to shoot guns, but I guess I was labeled too fragile.  We did have archery in P.E. in High School but I don't remember much about it.

2. Do you know where your childhood best friends are?  Some of them.  I know what cities they are in but that's about all.  My closest one that lived in the same neighborhood, tried to seduce my first husband while we were still married so we don't exactly keep in touch.

3. Do you usually arrive early, late, or on time?  I would have to say on time, even though my husband would say late.  But honestly I don't arrive late that often.

4. Are you more of a New York or California type?  New York seems hurried and crowded and California seems more laid back, hang out at the beach.  So I guess I would be more Cali type.

5. Do you have a special ring tone? no can't say that I do.

6. What is your favorite type of chip?  Guess it would have to be KC Masterpiece.

7. Best comedy you've ever seen is ....  My mind is blank at the moment.

8. Have you ever cut your own hair? To quote Dr. Phil, "How'd that work for ya?"  I can remember cutting my bangs when I was younger.  Dont think they turned out too awefully bad.

9. If you were going to have an extreme makeover, would you rather it be about your house or your personal self?
My house, definetly.  We bought it a little over two years ago and stripped all the wallpaper and painted.  I HATE the color the living room/dining room turned out.  So I eventually have to re-paint it.  Needs alot of updating shall we say.
10. Are you allergic to anything? long-haired cats, and so far my two oldest children are also.
11. Why is it so hard to change?  We like routine.  I think it's also our nature to be just a little stubborn.  Well a lot stubborn for some.  LOL

12. One last question dedicated to February love: CS Lewis said, "To love is to be vulnerable." Please share one example of that assertion or share any thought you'd like to about this topic.  I believe it's our human nature to want to feel loved by other people.  Sometimes we make wrong choices to try and have that love.  When if only we could realize we have the greatest love of all and that is the love of our Heavenly Father.  Through Him we can love others as He does.

Then Sings My Soul...............He Will Carry You

I am so glad I found this meme.  I enjoy visiting on Saturday mornings the other blogs and hearing what song they have choose.  I sit at the computer and put the earplugs in and for an hour or so I get lost in beautiful music.  So if you want to hear some wonderful uplifting music click over to Amy's and join in.  You won't regret it.
There's several ladies on my heart this morning, Linda (my mother in law), she has spent the most of the last six months at the hospital.  Either as a patient or at the bedside of her husband.  I've never had to walk in her shoes but you know it has to be hard to know that your husband has a disease that will eventually take his life.
Then there's Kat she has been battling health issues for months also.  To the point it's putting stress on her marriage.  Andrea, her nephew was diagnosed with Down's sydrome this week, and then her daughter in law finding out that her estranged father had been killed in an accident.

Also Debby, her son Aaron has court Monday and our prayers are that justice will be served to those in the wrong.

I'm sure there are many others that are going through trials in their life and I hope this ministers to each and everyone in a special way.

Random Dozen

Although this begins with a salute to the Olympics, you'll notice about half-way through these questions that Linda turns the corner and goes off on another path as fast as a luge rounding a bend. Hence the name: Random.

1. If you could compete in one Olympic event (not necessarily winter sports) what would it be?I don't watch the winter ones that much.  So I would have to go with a summer one.  Tennis or swimming, I'm not good at either but enjoy both.

2. Do remember a specific Olympic moment from the past?  The first one that comes to mind is the attack on Nancy Kerrigan.

3. Have you ever known anyone who competed in the Olympics? no can't say that I have

4. If everyday activities were Olympic-worthy, which activity would you have a gold medal in? cooking, well more so baking. love to bake from scratch.

5. Do you know anything about your ethnic heritage? not really

6. Do you enjoy sleeping late? Yes when I can but not real late because then I become lazy.

12. What is your favorite meal at your favorite restaurant? Chicken and Dumplings at Cracker Barrel in which we don't have one so I don't get them often.

More Snow Pictures from South GA

This is  where Makayla walked through the snow this morning.

She had to know what it was like to finally make a snow angel.

The front of our house.

And our pitiful snowman.  No bad for somebody that has never made one.  This is the pic before my husband decided to try and make it a red-neck snowman.

And this is the after version.  Other than the bright orange vest looks more like a bikini top to me.  LOL

We have snow in South Georgia !!!!!

Hard to get pictures other than where there are flood lights because it was already dark by the time it started accumulating.

Makayla can finally say she has seen snow.  This was her scraping it up on her trampoline not long after it started.

Hopefully by tomorrow we can make a snowman and have more pictures.

First Year Blogoversary

Tuesday was actually the official day of my blogoversary.  I can't believe I have been blogging for a year now.  To think when I first mentioned to Megan that I was thinking it would be fun but didn't know what in the world I would blog about.  She just laughed.  Since then I have read so many wonderful posts and have come to know several bloggers on a first name basis.
There is some when I'm having a bad day I know I can go to their blog and be inspired and feel much better.  Then there is others I know I can click on and always have a good laugh.  There is also those if I have an urgent need their just an email away and I know they are joining me in prayer.
I know I haven't been blogging much since the New Year but that's about to change.  I miss my friends.

Random Dozen

1. Are you pleasant when you're ill, or are you a grumpy, fussy patient?  Mostly pleasant, but want to be left alone.

2. When you find out that school is canceled (due to inclement weather) what is your gut reaction?  It's been a long time since we had that to happen.  If so it would be for a hurricane warning.  So my reaction would be do we have to evacuate, or not.

3. What is one domestic skill you wish you could improve?  Keeping the house clean.  I clean but it never stays that way.

4. Do you decorate your home for Valentine's Day?  Cant say that I do.

5. What song is on your mind today?

6. Do you prefer contemporary movies or classic?  contemporary

7. How well do you "compartmentalize" your feelings? For example, how well can you put aside a really trying moment to deal with the immediate situation which is not related to the trying moment, e.g., putting aside a tiff with your spouse in order to finish wallpapering a room.   I'm usually pretty good at it.  Especially you know how on Sunday morning when everything is going wrong.  The kids are grumpy, the husband is running late and you walk in church with a smile on your face.  As if everything is perfect.

8. What is the first thing that attracted you to your spouse? (Or if you're single, to your best friend.)  Not really sure because he's changed so much since we've gotten married.
9. When was the last time your heart raced?  Can't remember.

10. What are your memories of Valentine's Day at school?  Elementary school we always decorated a shoe box for all of our Valentine's to go in.  They don't do that here anymore, they bring them home in a paper bag.

11. If you were going to receive candy for Valentine's Day, which would you prefer?  Anything but the boxes of chocolate, most of that candy just isn't that good to me.

12. Red or pink?  Pink, definetly.

Random Dozen

Have you joined in the fun yet of Random Dozen?  If not answer the questions and link over at Linda's with everyone else.
1. Do you use the labels various charities send you as “free gifts?”
Sure, why waste them.

2. What is your favorite time of day (or night) for skywatching?  Mostly during the day.  I lie on the trampoline with Makayla and look at the shapes in the clouds.

3. What is the most adventurous you've ever been with trying a new food? (Keep it G-rated please)
Can't really think of anything lately.  I do remember YEARS ago when one of my friends wanted me to drink beer.  She tried putting ice cream in it, and it was still gross and wasted the ice cream in the process.

4. Have you ever heard a rock sing? (Trust me, there's a reason for this one!)  Not that I can think of.  But He does say if we don't praise him even the rocks will cry out.

5. If you could learn a language you don't presently speak, what would it be? spanish.  I know most says if they come here they should learn english.  But their not going to so, it would be nice to know what they are talking about.  Especially when your in walmart with them and their staring a hole through you.

6. Al Capone's tombstone read, “My Jesus, Mercy.” If you could write your own epitaph, what would it say?
An inspiration to many.

9. When you sneeze, do you go big, or do you do that weird “heenh!” sound that makes people think you’re going to blow your brains out? Any other variation we should know about?
I think I sneeze fairly normal.  It's not so loud that it draws attention to it.

10. Do you still read an actual newspaper that you hold in your hands, or do you get your news elsewhere? No, I read them online.

11. Are you a good speller? yes, It's one thing I'm anal about.  I hate for words to be misspelled, but I can usually decipher if they are.

Usually noon or whenever I get hungry.
