Wednesday Hodge Podge

It is so hard to believe it's already December, time is flying by so fast.  Slow down for a bit though and join Joyce and all the others for Wednesday Hodgepodge.

If you haven't already please enter my current giveaway for a Mozaik service for 8.

1. What is the most interesting thing you've done in the last year?
Well my husband says I don't get out enough and it must be true because I can't think of anything too terribly exciting.
2. What is your most meaningful family heirloom?
I don't have anything that has been passed down through the generations. But I do have a quilt that my Grandmother made me, all by hand. She gave it to me when I graduated from high school.

3. What food festival would you most like to attend? If you're not sure click here to see a list of possibilities.
Cooking contests would be so much fun.  Especially those where they decorate cakes.

4. you love it or is it considered a four letter word where you live?
Love it don't get it often enough to consider it a four letter word.

5. Can you ski? Do you ski? Are you any good?
No, not on the water or the snow.

6. What quality in your spouse or best friend are you most thankful for?
Hard worker.

7. Describe the coziest spot in your home.
My bed, love sitting in it with all my pillows, reading a good book, with a cup of hot chocolate.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Of the non-traditional Christmas songs I think this one has to be my favorite.  Not sure why, because it always brings tears to my eyes.

  1. We'd love to get a little snow down here in Florida, too, but I just don't think it's going to happen!

  2. A handmade quilt is can be an heirloom for your own family.

  3. As a quilter, I would say treasure that quilt ... it's definitely an heirloom! ;-)

  4. I love that song, too. Thanks for sharing.

I love quilts, and I know you treasure yours. My grandmother crocheted a small afghan for me when she was in the nursing home, and was still able to crochet.

  5. I have a quilt my grandmother made too. I'll be passing it to my daughter. I enjoy cooking and decorating shows too. Have a fab Wednesday. Blessings, SusanD

  6. I don't ski either. We're getting our first snowfall today! Now that you mention it, a hot chocolate would be nice right now!

  7. I'm with you on the cake decorating. I piddle at it - but I would love to watch someone who is really good at it. I've watched a few of the cake decorating contests on the food channel - they are just amazing.

PS - if you get any of that snow, would you share some with me please.....we don't get hardly any in my part of Texas and it would be so much fun just to play in the snow for a couple of days.

  8. I like the snow, which is good considering we get lots here. And I like to ski--but only cross country. Down hill and water I'm just not coordinated enough for.

  9. I like staying in bed too. It's warm, soft and I want to stay there to read. I don't like snow (well the first 2 or 3 are fine but after that :-( ) Nice answers!

  10. Thanks so much for stopping by today. I enjoyed your answers too. I had not even thought about the quilts that my Grandmother made for me. I think I have 4 that she made and I do love them and will pass them on to our children.

And, that song just always makes me cry. A "heart toucher" for sure! Blessings to you!

  11. Ahhh...drinking hot chocolate while snuggled in bed...sounds delightful!!!!!

And the quilt...yay for handmade things like that! My daughter has a baby blanket that my dh's grandmother made her. She's in her first year of college, and that quilt is barely surviving...with a lot of holes, but my daughter refuses to part with it. Wonderful stuff!!

Thanks for visiting my blog today!!

  12. I love things that have been handmade by family members. I have a couple of paintings that my aunt did that are pretty special. One of them is the picture on my blog header. Thanks for sharing.

  13. I have nothing handmade from any of my relatives. You are very fortunate. I hope to knit some throws for my children/grandchildren for this very reason.

  14. I don't do any sort of skiing either! Nice to meet you! :)

  15. Loved reading your answers. I love this song, it's one of my favorites.
