Extreme Home Makeover Savannah

As most of ya'll know I lived in the Savannah area until three years ago.  And anyone that knows anything about Savannah usually would think of  who else but Paula Deen.  Megan was there and snapped a picture real fast before they yelled no pictures inside.
But this week the buzz was all about this.
Yes, Ty and his crew choose a much deserving family to remake their house.  They moved to Savannah to be closer to their son's Doctors.  The house they bought was in much need repair.  They were having to cook at their neighbors and wash dishes in the bathtub.

From this...........

to this.

My son-in-law (Denny) and his brother are electricians and was chosen to work in the therapy room for the youngest son.  Megan spent two days down there mostly taking pictures.  So I was so excited when she called me Wednesday afternoon needing a ride back home.  So I was down there for a few hours that afternoon.  It was so amazing to see 100's of volunteers coming together and working.  Giving of their time and talent for a family they may have never even met.  Everyone knew what they were suppose to be doing and worked together so beautifully.

  2. The house to the left - that was my 1st apartment upstairs. I loved that place!
7 years ago when I lived there the Simpson's didn't but some SCAD students did & it was nasty. The owner was in the process of remodeling & the year I lived there I never saw any work being done. It was gutted and other than sleeping there nothing else was useable.
What a great experience for you & Megan to go there. I wish I would have had time.

  9. Wow! Very very cool! My son is a apprentice electrician right now. He loves it!

Okay, so on the first two ornaments on my blog-I think the best thing to do would be to buy one of the ornaments then take it apart to figure out it's pattern! I so wish I could crochet.

    Have a great weekend,
    Robin~♥

  10. Thena,

We have had the opportunity to volunteer twice for Extreme Makeover! Both times have just been so Divine! You just see Jesus in all the people who work so hard and so diligently in all they do for these families that will receive their new home! It is a miracle to see it all come together in such a short time!

So glad you got to see it all :) an experience never forgotten for sure!

Have a blessed weekend my friend!

  12. I admit that I don't watch the show but I love the concept. It must have been very rewarding to see all of those volunteers coming together for the good of one family.
