http://kiwanisogeecheefair.org/index.html We've only lived here for two years, and we have yet to go to this one. But from everything I keep hearing it's going to be alot of fun. Monday opening day, admission is only a canned good for each person. You can't beat that. A cheap way to get in and a way to help others.
But as I've said in previous posts it's not the rides, its' the food. I guess if I really learned how to make all the fair food, I would be as big as the side of a barn. But once a year can't be too bad.
So this week I have found a recipe for caramel apples. They are so simple, it will be another one of those recipes that you can get the kids in the kitchen to help you with.
1 (14 ounce) package individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
2 tablespoons milk
Remove the stem from each apple and press a craft stick into the top. Butter a baking sheet. I haven't tried it but I would think wax paper would work just as well.
Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave 2 minutes, stirring once. Allow to cool briefly.
Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated. Place on prepared sheet to set.
